Wills

There are many good reasons for making a Will:

  • deciding who handles your affairs when you die (the “executors”)
  • deciding who will benefit; if you have young children, you can appoint guardians who can look after them if you die whilst they are still children
  • setting out any particular wishes you may have regarding your funeral.

If you do not make a Will, there are rules about who will inherit but these will not necessarily achieve what you want. You may wish to include people who would not automatically qualify (such as stepchildren, other family members, friends or charities).

You may wish to leave your husband, wife or partner a right to live in the house or a life interest whilst providing that the right to the proceeds from the house ultimately passes to someone else.

You may like advice on associated issues (such as inheritance tax; lifetime planning; and the potential impact of different arrangements on any future care costs).

We will discuss the different options with you and draw up the Will to give effect to your needs and wishes.

We offer fixed fees for straightforward Wills. If the Will is more complex, a fixed fee may not be appropriate but we can give you an estimate of the likely cost at the outset.
